Thanks to the environmentalists in this country, corn prices have soared to record levels - reaching $6.025 a bushel before backing off slightly to settle at $6.00. The soaring price of corn, up 30% this year, is due to dwindling supply thanks in part to the global warming activists in this country who have pushed the ethanol craze. Even though ethanol has been found to be more harmful to the environment, these ecolibs continue their push in an effort to save the planet.
In a funny global warming twist of fate, wet and cold conditions in the midwest U.S. may delay the planting of corn for the next harvest, which may drive prices further upwards.
With many on the left in this country complaining that the money spent on the Iraq war could feed the hungry, it’s only fitting that food prices rise so we can retort with the same complaint. How many people go hungry every night because food prices are so high?
