More CFL Dangers Loom Large

Thanks to a ban on incandescent bulbs in American beginning in 2012, we have the lovely option of now purchasing compact fluorescent lights, or CFLs, for our homes. While the mercury dangers have been clearly documented (here and here for starters), a new danger is now being reported in the media: exposure to ultraviolet light. The Health Protection Agency in the UK is recommending that people not be within a proximity of one foot of a bare bulb for more than an hour per day to prevent dangerous exposure to UV light.
