Report: Global Sea Ice at ‘Unprecedented’ Levels

April 2008 had the third-highest recorded ice amount since records began in 1979.  Contrary to mainstream media reports, sea ice isn’t melting away and the oceans aren’t going to rise 20 feet, as stated by Al Gore.  Instead, the sea is gaining ice and, as the article states, it’s level is unprecedented for the month of April over the last 25 years.  Now that we know that global warming doesn’t cause increased hurricanes, increased temperatures or melting sea ice, what’s the next talking point that science will debunk?

The Newcastle Herald (Australia) published a front story last Saturday (3/5/08) that Lake Macquarie Council will be changing the building codes to ensure that buildings are built higher to compensate for rising sea levels. The story was also accompanied by a colour Landsat map, that showed what areas are going to inundated due to rising sea levels. This map was supposedly ‘Top Secret’ & apparently so ’sensitive’ that the NSW State Government tried to ban it’s publication.

    Phooey!!!

Just more examples of media hyperbole to sell more papers & of how inept local councils are at dealing with climate change doomsayers!
