Alan Caruba has a fantastic article here on the Western Front America blog that goes in-depth on the history behind nuclear energy and renewed calls for its use. A recent poll found that 74% of Americans now approve of the use of nuclear energy, which is a record high. At a time when environmentalists everywhere are calling on the use of clean energy, nuclear power is not an option they want to discuss. Back in June, I wrote an article on the climate of fear, which discusses the reasons behind why nuclear energy is nearly off-limits in America today. In Caruba’s article, he tells us about Yucca Mountain, it’s preparedness to receive spent rods, and Senator Harry Reid’s (D) opposition to using it to store nuclear waste.
