There is something truly special about the Gore Effect. Seemingly every time an event is staged around climate change, unusual weather creeps in and presents itself for the whole world to witness. A global warming bill debate in Britain this week was no exception.
Record cold temperatures dove the northern hemisphere in a freeze from Sweden to the United States to Britain, where London and outlying areas received snowfall in October, a first since the 1930’s.

Two days after the end of British summertime, snow fell in and around UK, causing power lines to snap, automobile accidents to block roadways and even a vehicular death due to the poor conditions. A light dusting of snow was recorded in London, which saw its first October snow in 74 years. Could the winter of 2008 be a repeat of the frigid winter of 2007? With global temperatures continuing to plummet, I’m guessing the chance of this happening is much higher than a global warming-induced heat …

The Climate Change Fraud staff picked a winner of a post for today (by global warming skeptic favorite Alan Caruba, even). Not only did New Jersey get a large amount of snowfall (up to 14 inches measured in at least one spot), but Alan makes a point of mentioning that the current cooling period has been tracked back to 1998, just as many of us in the global warming skeptics arena have been saying for some time. Weather does not make climate. But a decade of cooling …

The Carolinas are under a cold snap that has brought the states’ temperature down to mid-January levels. The Charlotte area is under a freeze warning with morning lows hovering just above 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Can someone send those people some global warming to help things out a bit?

It seems the colors on the leaves in Britain are brilliant this year due to ideal weather conditions, according to this article in the Telegraph. Tony Kirkham, head of arboretum at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London, said “We are experiencing a return to the traditional British autumn.” All we need now is for some global warming alarmist to come along and say that the ideal conditions were created because of climate change.

Tomorrow night in and around Cambridge, Massachusetts, is forecast to be so cold that it could break a record low set 125 years ago.  This isn’t the first time winter-like temperatures have hit at the same time as an environmentally-friendly event.  Back in December, it was a snowy day in Washington on the day of a global warming vote.  Proponents of global warming in Maryland were blanketed with snow in January.  And back in June, more global warming activists had to endure unseasonably cold temperatures in England.

G.W. Denier over at Global Shamming points out a couple of recent weather-related articles on recent cold snaps across the country.  Pendleton, Oregon had a record low of 22 degrees Saturday morning, which broke the 118 year-old record of 24.  And California’s grape country is in trouble due to the recent cold snap.  The cold temperatures fortunately did little damage to the grapes in Mendocino County, but farmers there are worried after having taken huge losses this year.  If global warming doesn’t kick in soon, grape farmers may have to …

Over the weekend, Boise Idaho received the earliest measurable snowfall since record-keeping began in 1898.  1.7 inches of snow fell Friday night and the storm, which took many by surprise, left the area with scattered power outages from the heavy, wet snowflakes.

Now this is only a regional effect experienced in one particular month, so I can’t say this means global warming is over. However, if Ireland had experienced the warmest September in 14 years, I’m sure global warming activists everywhere would be using it as definitive proof that the world is warming. Anyway, the temperature across the country never rose above 20 degrees anywhere - which is a first in 30 years. Average monthly air temperatures were about a half-degree below normal.
