Welcome to the Global Warming Week-In-Review! I hope everyone will take a few minutes out of their day to call, visit or remember their mother today as we celebrate Mother’s Day here in the U.S. Now, let’s get down to business.

Sunday, May 4th:

A new threat was unveiled Sunday as scientists determined that recent shark attacks were brought on by none other than global warming.  While this theory sounds good to those pushing the global warming agenda, I wonder how long it will take before any bad situation is blamed on global warming.  Coming to a theatre near you:  Jaws Returns, starring Al Gore.  As thousands of sun-loving vacationers head to their favorite beach destination, there’s a new threat in the water, and he’s hungry.  Can our hero, played by Gore, stop global warming before it’s too late?  Also, the U.N. stepped up and actually did something useful on Sunday, declaring that biofuel investments have to stop.  Ok, well maybe half-useful.  While the U.N. did call for investments in biofuels to stop, it did not specifically call for biofuel use to stop.  The U.N. has been an organization praised by the left in this country for years.  Why aren’t the left-leaning environmentalists listening to it now?

Monday, May 5th:

Monday was a slow news day but the Canadians are a step ahead of the U.S. in the carbon trading scam.  That hasn’t stopped the United States from developing proposals for carbon taxes and cap-and-trade systems.  Also, England could be the first step toward the beginning of the end of the green movement, thanks to the recent London elections.  It seems Londoners were tired of being taxed over the environment and they ousted their incumbent mayor.  Prime Minister Gordon Brown has recognized this trend and is working to reduce existing environmental taxes and even to eliminate proposed fuel taxes.  Way to go, England!

Tuesday, May 6th:

The United States Senate has called for the EPA to reconsider ethanol output mandates after the nation experienced soaring food prices.  There is opposition from farmers associations, however, as they say this is a bad idea.  Now I don’t blame the farmers for the high food prices,  but to say ethanol should continue production just because of higher profits in agriculture is just ludicrous.  The U.S. Government has propped up the farming industry for years and continues to do so.  Why aren’t Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton talking about taking windfall profits from farmers like they do for big oil?  Also, record sea ice was recorded in during April.  At a time when the prophets of doom are preaching world floods and devastated coastlines, sea ice continues to grow, even as greenhouse has emissions rise.  The global sea ice levels are as high as they’ve been in 25 years and the third highest since records started being kept in 1979.

Wednesday, May 7th:

More news that the global warming hoax is dying, thanks to recent polls that indicate Americans don’t consider the environment a cause for concern during the elections.  Our good friend Ted Kennedy is back.  You remember Ted, right?  Ran the car off the bridge and his female passenger drowned?  The same Ted Kennedy that’s big on environmental causes but demonstrated opposition to building a wind farm off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard?  The Massachusetts Senator has struck again only this time he ordered the crew on his yacht to dump diesel fuel into the Nantucket Sound.  Ah, the good old environmentalist double-standard.

Thursday, May  8th:

More pretentiousness from Al Gore came to pass on Thursday as we learned about his $100k speaking fee to bring the global warming hoax to your group or organization.   And that’s not all.  The ex-veep also requires first-class air fare and accommodations, ground transportation, $1000 per day diem, security and ten tickets to your event.  Oh, and no press credentials, please.  Having to defend the global warming hoax would be bad for business.  Scientists are also devising a plan to turn atmospheric carbon dioxide into rock, using a process to inject CO2 into basaltic rock.  Unfortunately scientists do not know how long this process will take.  By the time they figure it out, the whole world could be underwater thanks to the global warming hoax.

Friday, May 9th:

I retracted a story on Friday about Al Gore blaming the Myanmar cyclone on global warming.  It seems some right-wing nut with an agenda manipulated the audio from Gore’s NPR appearance to make it sound like he blamed the cyclone on climate change.  What Gore did say, to his credit, is that you can’t blame one storm on global warming.  As much as I disagree with Gore’s global warming agenda, I must give kudos to the former vice president for not using the Myanmar tragedy to further his agenda.  My apologies to you, Al Gore, for running that story earlier in the week.  In other news, sixth grade students at David A. Brown Middle School in California wrote letters to the Chicago-based Heartland Institute to express their feelings about global warming and, in the process, called the group a bunch of “horrible people” and “fools”.  While I don’t blame the students (I remember sixth grade and I didn’t give a hoot about the social issues), the teacher or the school system as a whole is mostly to blame here, turning their education system into a politically-charged arena of bias and hate.  But isn’t bias and hate what the liberals preach against in this country?  Also it was learned on Saturday that April was the coolest in 11 years and was one degree cooler than the entire 20th century average.  Even if La Nina is to blame for the cooling temperatures, doesn’t that mean that El Nino was to blame for the 1998 heat wave?  Seems to me that La Nina and El Nino are more powerful than greenhouse gases.  Where is the movement to stamp out El Nino before it floods the world?

Saturday, May 10th:

Scientists are working on a bio-engineered grass to feed livestock so that they produce less methane gas.  Yes, it’s true.  The flatulence police, fart patrol, gas gestapo and/or breaking wind warriors are out to stop natural emissions from bovine.  How long before a link between the genetically-engineered grass and cancer in humans is found?  Also, there is concern among New Zealand’s dairy farmers that carbon trading schemes could hurt the country’s economy.  New Zealanders fear that implementing greenhouse gas reduction methods could drive up the price of goods, allowing competition from other less environmentally-friendly countries and driving natives out of business.

That’s it for this week.  Happy Mother’s Day!
