Thick Arctic Ice Traps Climate Tour Icebreaker

A 24,000 horsepower ice-breaking ship was forced to shut down their engines and wait for nature during a climate change tour to show interested individuals the Arctic ice before it all melted away.  Although Arctic ice did melt considerably over the summer, it quickly refroze and is back to levels not seen in many years.  If the ice were thin, it shouldn’t have been a problem for this mammoth icebreaking machine.  Instead, all 108 passengers on board the ship had to wait for nature to help move the ice so that they could resume their journey.  Such poetic justice.
