Global Warming Skeptics to Lose in November

No matter how you look at it, skeptics of the global warming hoax are destined to lose in November in the United States.
Both remaining U.S. presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Hussein Obama, are staunch supporters of the global warming hoax. The only difference between the two is how badly they will crush the economy as both have very liberal tendencies to use taxes to solve a problem that doesn’t exist.
John McCain has proposed a cap-and-trade system which would seek to return to 2005 emissions levels by 2012, 1990 levels by 2025 and 60% below 1990 levels by 2050.
Barack Obama has proposed a similar system which would seek to reduce emissions by 80% in 2025.
Neither candidate cares about the best course of action for Americans at this point; their campaign speeches are simply tools to attract the most voters. Their actions in Washington, once elected, will show their true colors. As it stands now, the cap-and-trade system proposed by each candidate will do one or more of the following:
- Cause a shortage of goods and services
- Cause prices of goods and services to rise
- Cause the poor to get poorer
- Cause jobs to be lost
How can they accomplish this? A cap-and-trade system only allows for a finite amount of carbon to be released into the atmosphere. If corporations go over budget, they must buy additional carbon credits from the carbon market (at a premium, I’m sure) to continue their greenhouse gas emissions or simply close up shop if they can’t afford the premium-priced carbon credits. If these corporations decide to go out of business, the price of goods and services will increase as supply drops. But that’s not the only reason prices could increase.
As corporations buy more carbon credits to keep their operations running, their costs obviously increase. To make up for the increased costs, it’s likely that the price of their goods and services will increase as well to make up the difference. Or, to remain competitive in the market, those same corporations will make cuts elsewhere either in personnel, bonuses or merit raises. In any situation, the citizen will lose. For a family of four just above poverty level, there is a big difference between a 3-5% raise and no raise or, worse, the elimination of employment.
While the candidates continue to attract potential voters with their promises of global warming legislation and use of renewable energy, there’s a message that needs to be sent to Washington: allow for domestic drilling, allow for new nuclear facilities, allow for more oil refineries and don’t let Ted Kennedy dictate where wind farms can be built.
