Breaking the Law OK to Save the Planet

How infuriating.  A UK jury found a group of Greenpeace vandals not guilty of damaging a coal-fired power plant because of the threat of global warming.  The six defendants successfully used a “lawful excuse” defense written into the Criminal Damage Act of 1971, which allows destruction of property to prevent even greater damage.  While I’m sure global warming activists are proud of their brainwashing efforts, it does provide a slippery slope for victims on both sides of the debate.  Can home heating systems be sabotaged legally because of global warming?  What about gasoline-powered automobiles?  Private and commercial jets?
