Harry Reid Trying to Ban Oil Shale under Bailout Guise

Ah those Democrats. They love to be sneaky. Harry Reid is trying to ban whatever he can while everyone else in Congress is desperately trying to save our economy. Oil shale is the apple of Reid’s eye and he hopes to include legislation to ban 800 million to 2 billion barrels of oil from shale refinement in the current appropriations bill or as a separate amendment. So while everyone else is trying to come up with a plan to keep our economy out of a recession (they hope), Reid is busy working behind the scenes to stick it to the American people. Way to go, Harry. I’m sure your fellow Democrats are proud.

Rather than restricting oil, perhaps Reid should advocate veganism. Did you know going vegan helps slow climate change? Did you see this article: http://vegetarian.about.com/b/2008/09/10/in-the-news-eat-less-meat-to-combat-climate-change.htm
Yes…well, not that specific article but I’ve read others on the same topic. I’m not a vegan and never will be if I can help it. However, I tend to dispute the vegan claim of a healthier environment anyway - especially if the use of synthetic fertilizers and nitrogen are used. More vegans = more crops = more water use = more fertilizer manufactured (more fossil fuels used by the factories) = more fertilizer run-off into rivers and streams = more ocean dead zones.
It’s six of one and half-dozen of the other in my opinion.
There was also an article that recently claimed that those who consume mostly vegetables end up with brain shrinkage (no joke): http://www.skepticsglobalwarming.com/global-warming-myth/lifestyle/shrink-your-brain-to-save-the-planet/
