The U.N. climate chief is concerned over a slow down in measures to combat global warming and is wondering if a new pact on global climate change can be reached by December 2009. The problem lies with the politicizing of the issue and how countries around the world can be equally responsible for doing their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Not mentioned in this Associated Press article is the economic impact that will be felt by those countries that do implement carbon-cutting measures. The article did, however, mention melting Arctic ice and “increased crop damage” as reasons to cut back on emissions.
