Manila Approves Creation of Climate Change Body

A climate change body is one step closer to being reality in Manila, Philippines, as two houses have approved the measure. The climate change body would formulate and implement a national climate change action plan as well as a climate change fund from which to draw it’s monetary resources. The author of the bill, Siquijor Rep. Orlando Fua, commented, “Sea level rise will exacerbate inundation, storm surges, erosion and other coastal hazards thus threatening vital infrastructure settlements and facilities that support livelihood of island communities.“
