What a waste of cash. I hope all the residents of Seattle call your mayor about this one. The city of Seattle’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in conjunction with Seattle Public Utilities, is hosting a competition for artists in Washington state to submit art to bring attention to global warming and its effects on water supply and drainage utilities. From the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs web page: “in 2007, the city invested nearly $1.7 million to support 243 artists and cultural organizations.” So the city would rather spent your tax money on starving artists to create scenes of doom-and-gloom instead of spending the cash on something that may solve the problem if it even exists? That, my friends, is a government that has stretched its tentacles too far into your lives.
