Gore Chided for Lack of Leadership During Vice Presidency

As Vice President, Al Gore was chided by environmental groups for not doing enough for cleaner air and pollution reduction. An editorial distributed in 1997 called President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore’s remarks about global warming “hot air.” Gore even had to have a large media event to encourage him to attend the UN meetings that helped define the Kyoto Protocol. Didn’t seem like Gore wanted to ruin his political chances with tackling climate change during his boss’s administration. And he lost to George W. Bush in 2000 anyway.
