The New South Wales government in Australia is seeding the clouds in the Snowy Mountains region to increase rainfall, which after the first application increased precipitation by 10-15%.  Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald commented, “well this is human intervention to try and address some of the problems that may be created by human induced, too much carbon in the atmosphere.”  Since global warming causes all types of weather, what will the New South Wales government do if it rains too much?

Businesses in Australia have told the government to go back to the drawing board with regard to the proposed emissions trading scheme. Companies in Australia fear that up to one-third of trade-exposed businesses could shut down from competition not under a similar scheme.

See if you can point out the discrepancy here.  The article says that cotton has been affected by drought in recent years.  The title of the article says Australia cotton faces climate threat.  But according to global warming activists, small-scale changes in climate aren’t indicative of large-scale patterns.  So can we now equate short-term cooling with global cooling, or is that still off limits?

The greenies are at it again. This time, Victoria, Australia is halted the building of six coastal homes due to the threat of increasing storm severity and rising sea levels caused by climate change. If they can do this, are you ready to have your home taken because it’s in an inconvenient spot and could be subjected to threats made possible by global warming?

Retailers in Australia have warned of higher prices for refrigerated goods under an emissions control scheme while at the same time expressing doubt over of the science behind proof of global warming.  Electricity prices would jump 16% under a carbon emissions scheme if carbon prices were set at $20 per ton.  The government is set to adopt a carbon emissions plan in 2010.

Australian scientist Dr. David Evans says there is no conclusive evidence for global warming based on greenhouse gas emissions and that, in an effort to move quickly, concrete evidence was foregone.  He continues to say that 2001 was the last warm year and temperatures have dropped to 1980 levels since then.

(H/T:  Tim Blair):  It seems that NSW is falling behind on cutting its greenhouse gas emissions - failing to meet targets it set for itself.  The original goal was to cut emissions by 60% mid-century, it’s forecast that the 2025 target not be met as emissions are expected to exceed the target by 20 million tons of greenhouse gas.

I took the day off.  Sorry, folks.  There are just some days there isn’t enough worthwhile news to post.
Monday, May 26th:
The McCain-Lieberman-Warner bill is set for debate in the U.S. Senate beginning Monday, June 2nd.  This proposed legislature and final fantasy of environmentalists across the country, would be an economic disaster and would allow the government to regulate emissions of the same gas we exhale.  Do we really want more government regulation?   The U.N. is back in the news …

In Australia, a green group has called for an end to freeway construction in the name of greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. The group days freeways do nothing to eliminate traffic congestion, cause more emissions and encourage car use.
