The Italian truffle crop has been halved thanks to global warming. Heavy rains combined with severe drought have threatened the white fungi. Output from this year compared to last has dropped 20 to 30 percent. But never fear, folks. The price of white truffles have only driven the price of 2.205 pounds worth to $5,050. I’m sure that’s pocket change to all of us deniers who are on the payrolls of Big Oil anyway, right?

In 2006, The Guardian predicted an uncertain future for ski resorts as climate change cause warmer winters. Just yesterday, The Independent reported that the ski industry expects a boom as cold air sets in. And Michael Bennett, a tour operator of Ski Independence said that 2007 was a “stellar” year. Not only can climatologists not accurately predict climate, but it seems the media also has a similar affliction.

Government Intervention »
Earlier today, I made a post asking why Democrats wanted to bail out big auto, but there is apparently more to this story. It seems President-Elect The One wants to appoint a Car Czar to oversee the government bailout of the auto industry and bring them back to profitability. As I mentioned in my last post (linked above), there are some government restrictions to receive the bailout cash, most notably the to improve fuel efficiency.

All American Blogger has some interesting analysis here on the Dems’ push to bail out Big Auto in the United States. Since these same Democrats are against offshore drilling, for cap-and-trade systems and love high energy prices, why would they want to help an industry that creates carbon-spewing automobiles? Aside from the article commentary at All American Blogger, I have two ideas, personally: one is to guarantee votes in subsequent elections from auto workers and the other is to place tighter government restrictions on how the industry …
Al Gore, Global Warming Hoax Lead Story »
Al Gore had an editorial piece printed in the New York times today. It’s full of typical environmentalist talking points but only half of the truth is provided. Follow along as I share my comments (in bold) under each of Gore’s paragraphs (in italics) so help break down the truth from the hyperbole. While I’ll only excerpt parts of the opinion piece, the entire op-ed can be read by following the link at the bottom of this post.
[W]e…must make…an emergency rescue of human civilization from the imminent and rapidly growing …
Snow »
Two days after the end of British summertime, snow fell in and around UK, causing power lines to snap, automobile accidents to block roadways and even a vehicular death due to the poor conditions. A light dusting of snow was recorded in London, which saw its first October snow in 74 years. Could the winter of 2008 be a repeat of the frigid winter of 2007? With global temperatures continuing to plummet, I’m guessing the chance of this happening is much higher than a global warming-induced heat …

As if the plummeting global temperatures weren’t enough of a problem for global warming ringleader Al Gore, it appears as though the Nobel Peace Prize he cherishes may have been given to him under illegal circumstances. From the article:
In his 1895 last will and testament, Nobel, a Swedish industrialist and philanthropist who invented dynamite, decreed that part of his vast fortune be used to create the awards that now carry his name, including the Nobel Peace Prize.
He asked that five members elected by the Norwegian parliament Norway and Sweden …
Carbon Tax »
In 1991, Norway enacted a punishing carbon tax - $65 per ton of greenhouse gas emitted. The result? Carbon emissions have risen 15% since that time. The country blames the increase on growth but, with gasoline at or near $10 per gallon, it seems no price is too much to pay for personal transportation. If you think this can’t happen in the United States, think again. From the article:
Although the tax forced Norway’s oil and gas sector to become among the greenest in the world, soaring energy prices led to …

Third-world countries are being lectured about reducing carbon emissions, even though their often times fragile industry is still in its infancy. Some countries in the third world are fighting back, though, as evidenced in India. From the article:
The Indian government’s National Action Plan on Climate Change looked for evidence of harm to India from global warming. Its scientists found none. It also looked for man-made causes. Still no evidence. “No firm link between the changes [to India’s environment] and warming due to anthropogenic climate change has yet been established,” it …
Government Intervention »
This has nothing to do with the absurd federal bailout package, either. Convenience stores in the city of Kyoto are being asked to not remain open 24 hours to help fight global warming. As Anthony Watts puts it, there’s only going to be a real savings on electricity from light. The refrigeration units must still run. Maybe I should have called this post “Pirates of Profit Gag Business for Global Warming.” That seems about right.
