Starbucks, the Seattle-based coffee house whose most recent quarterly profits were down 97%, announced a partnership on Wednesday with a Boston-based environmental group to lobby Congress for greenhouse gas regulations as well as investment in and promotion of renewable energy. While it’s no shocker that the coffee chain would support such a government-intrusive program, it was also no big shock to learn last month that they were found to have water running in 16,000 of their stores all day, every day to prevent bacteria from growing in their taps. …

Al Gore, Global Warming Hoax Lead Story »

[10 Nov 2008 | No Comment | 421 views]

Al Gore had an editorial piece printed in the New York times today.  It’s full of typical environmentalist talking points but only half of the truth is provided.  Follow along as I share my comments (in bold) under each of Gore’s paragraphs (in italics) so help break down the truth from the hyperbole.  While I’ll only excerpt parts of the opinion piece, the entire op-ed can be read by following the link at the bottom of this post.
[W]e…must make…an emergency rescue of human civilization from the imminent and rapidly growing …

A rock very common in the Earth’s mantle may become part of the solution to global warming. Peridotite is unique because and carbon dioxide exposed to it becomes solid, like calcite. While the mining process to obtain it is prohibitively expensive (can it really be more expensive than carbon taxes??), the rock does appear at the surface on some parts of the globe. How long before this finding is shot down by the pro-tax crowd?

Giant panda bears are threatened thanks to global warming. Well, the actual bears aren’t being threatened but their food supply is. Scientists think. Or not. Giant panda bears’ primary food is bamboo. Lots of it. And climate change is threatening to redistribute plants, like bamboo. And while this may be a concern, scientists also found that global warming increases some bamboo types. The moral of this story? Nobody really knows anything yet.

A Climate Crisis A La Gore
This week I conclude my interview with Paul Spite, author of A Climate Crisis a la Gore.
Don’t forget - as a special bonus to readers of Skeptics Global Warming, Paul has graciously agreed to give away a free signed copy of his book, A Climate Crisis A La Gore, to one lucky person.  To enter yourself in the random drawing, simply leave a comment at the end of this week’s or last week’s article. One random commenter will be chosen on Tuesday, November 4th.  Leave …

Even after being busted for offering travel packages to exotic destinations via a 88-passenger jet to places around the world, the WWF continues to rank near the top of the list of environmental hypocrites, just under Al Gore.  The organization is now saying that climate change is happening even more rapidly than the IPCC anticipated and we must all do something now before it’s too late.  Listen, folks.  This is simply fear-mongering.  Global temperatures have dropped like a rock since 1998.  Sunspots are at a minimum.  Polar ice is increasing.  …

Disputing Global Warming »

[7 Oct 2008 | No Comment | 34 views]

Al Gore can’t catch a break these days. After riding a wave of rising global temperatures for the last 25 years of the 20th century, the globe has made an abrupt shift in its climate without intervention from those pesky humans that supposedly cause all the warming in the first place.
The solar wind is now 20% weaker than it was only a decade ago. This permits more cosmic rays to reach the earth’s surface, which creates more clouds that block the sun’s rays and, in turn, cools the …

Prince Charles to made his semi-annual statement on climate change yesterday.  The Prince of Wales is warming that the world is not reacting quickly enough to stop global warming and that we need to be “courageous and revolutionary” in our approach to the problem.  Otherwise, the result will be catastrophic for us, especially poor countries.  Then the Prince went on to discuss a local flood and Hurricane Katrina.  To be fair, however, Prince Charles did ditch his private jet and ask that his staff use bicycles earlier this year in …

Methane »

A Russian research ship in the Arctic has discovered methane bubbles rising from the sea floor which, if you listen to anyone in on the global warming hoax, is certain doom.  I believe the scientists quoted in this article call it a “ticking time bomb”.  However, the article does go on to mention it’s thought that “huge methane releases may have been responsible for mass extinctions in Earth’s distant past.” Were those historical methane releases from the ocean floor, too?  If so, can you explain how temperatures were high enough …

The latest sunspot from cycle 24, which appeared just over a day ago, has already vanished from the face of the sun. It’s an eerie reminder that our closest star is indeed in a period of relatively low activity with, coincidental or not, a period of cooling on our own planet Earth. According to Watt’s site, sunspots can hang around on the surface for as long as a complete solar rotation, about 27 days. Click the link to see an animated image, put together by Watts himself, …
