Snow »

[10 Nov 2008 | One Comment | 24 views]

And it’s only early November!  A powerful blizzard in around around Sioux Falls, South Dakota, dropped up to four feet of snow and arrived with whipping winds late last week.  Some stretches of Interstate 90 was closed and motorists were stranded for up to 24 hours while rescue crews attempted to reach them at speeds as little as one-half mile per hour due to the conditions.

Al Gore, Global Warming Hoax Lead Story »

[10 Nov 2008 | No Comment | 254 views]

Al Gore had an editorial piece printed in the New York times today.  It’s full of typical environmentalist talking points but only half of the truth is provided.  Follow along as I share my comments (in bold) under each of Gore’s paragraphs (in italics) so help break down the truth from the hyperbole.  While I’ll only excerpt parts of the opinion piece, the entire op-ed can be read by following the link at the bottom of this post.

Alternative Fuel Sources »

At a time when energy demand is skyrocketing and global warming activists in a real hurry to eliminate all fossil-fuel based initiatives in the United States, what will happen to us? Between 2002 and 2007, 30 gigawatts of coal plants were deferred or cancelled. 3.5 gigawatts of coal plants have been taken off the table in the first half of 2008 alone. With so-called clean tech not yet making up the difference, there’s a real possibility that citizens could face blackouts as demand exceeds supply. Environmentalists …

Thanks to Barack Obama’s belief in the global warming myth, he plans to implement a cap-and-trade system that will, what he says, force the price of electricity to skyrocket. Will taxpayers in America be forced to assist those unable to pay their heating bill? Under what could be a very socialist agenda, it’s very possible. Remember, he wants to spread YOUR wealth, if elected.

Read over the home descriptions at this article and see if you can decide who owns which house.  This was part of an email that circulated the Internet some time back but has since been confirmed by Snopes.  You’ll be amazed, or maybe not, at the extent that one of the houses uses renewable and natural sources for electricity savings.

European Union ministers meeting in Luxembourg have given final approval to the ban of incandescent light bulbs.  Their replacements, CFLs, are supposed to last longer and use less energy than their now-banned counterparts and use less electricity.  However, opponents say that CFLs take a while to warm up, they flicker, and there are environmental hazards associated with them as they contain mercury.

Government Intervention »

[29 Sep 2008 | No Comment | 16 views]

This has nothing to do with the absurd federal bailout package, either.  Convenience stores in the city of Kyoto are being asked to not remain open 24 hours to help fight global warming.  As Anthony Watts puts it, there’s only going to be a real savings on electricity from light.  The refrigeration units must still run.  Maybe I should have called this post “Pirates of Profit Gag Business for Global Warming.”  That seems about right.

A July poll of 1001 people in Australia found that 21% were not willing to pay additional costs for their electricity to help fix global warming.  Another 32% were willing to pay an extra $10 per month on their power bill to help fight climate change.  Last year, climate change was tied for first place as the most important foreign policy issue.  This year, it’s fifth.  As I put my tongue firmly in my cheek, let me say this:  how dare Australians worry about themselves, their families and their jobs …

Live Earth »

It’s that time once again where politicians and rock musicians from around the globe fly their carbon-emitting private jets to a location on the planet to raise awareness of global warming.  Live Earth, to be held on December 7th in Mumbai India, is still working on the attendee list but has confirmed Jon Bon Jovi.  Al Gore, surprisingly speaking from satellite rather than flying in his personal jet to India for a personal message, said India was chosen because it’s the world’s largest democracy and has significant influence on the …

Portugal is set to pay about 10 billion Euros between 2013 and 2020 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet the EU’s energy and climate pact.  Electricity producers will pay the brunt of the costs, up to 6.6 billion, while industry will pay the remainder.  Electricity rates are expected to jump six to eight percent and some costs will be passed on to consumers.  Coming up in 2013:  how Portugal’s economy is rocked by greenhouse gas reduction scheme.
