Global warming has suffered another great defeat as two propositions in California related to green initiatives were struck down by voters. Specifically, Proposition 7 would have required utilities to generate 40% of their power from renewable energy by 2020 and 50% by 2025. Proposition 10 would have created $5 billion in bond money to help consumers purchase vehicles with high fuel economy or that ran on alternative fuels. Both propositions were defeated handily in the state.

Meterologist Art Horn is accusing NASA’s James Hansen of manipulating global temperature data. Hansen, a global warming activist, is accused of making pre-1970 temperatures lower than actual observed readings to make temperature increases after 1970 seem more prominent. Horn wrote to Hansen’s boss in September expressing his displeasure with the handling of the data, but has not received a reply.

Mary Doerr saw Gore’s fictional documentary An Inconvenient Truth at Stanford University and decided to start a group, Inconvenient Youth, to indoctrinate teens on the global warming movement. Green activists EcoAmerica recently conducted a poll and found that only 18% of respondents strongly believe that global warming is anthropogenic in nature, is real and is harmful.  With all of the fear-mongering and propaganda that takes place daily around the world to scare people into believing this garbage, you would think this number would be higher - especially from a poll held by a group of environmentalists.  Either their actual readers aren’t their intended audience or people truly don’t believe in man-made global warming.

It seems socialism is running rampant this week.  Chinese officials recently remarked that rich countries should shoulder the load of paying for initiatives and cover poorer nations in the fight against global warming.  So it’s not enough that rich countries, specifically the United States, send foreign aid in the form of cash, food and military support to third-world nations, but now we have to pick up the tab for helping them reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Wonderful.
