John Ray over at Greenie Watch has an excellent article that’s worth a couple of minutes of your time. An international study suggests that modeled carbon dioxide emissions from soil may be up to 20% less than anticipated, due in part to charcoal in the soil. The charcoal acts as an inhibitor of decomposition, causing the soil to be a carbon sink rather than a carbon emitter.

If you only read one post here today, this is the one to read. Here’s an excellent synopsis of the history around the IPCC models, the manipulation of data and conclusions drawn from the inability of models to predict global warming.

An opinion piece in The Harvard Crimson, the University’s daily newspaper, lambasts Gore for continuing to eat meat all while preaching the virtues of a carbon-reduced lifestyle to anyone who will listen.
While the person who shared in the win of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, is a vegetarian, Gore is not. And while Gore does apparently now drive a Prius, studies find that preparing even 2.2 pounds of meat produce emissions equivalent of 80 pounds of carbon dioxide. An inconvenient truth, indeed.

Just as I thought I knew of everything caused by climate change, a new one just popped up: an increase in crime due to global warming. From carbon market fraud to an increase in violent crimes to looting after natural (note: not called “man-made” yet) disasters, police forces are being prepped for such a crime wave. Also, violent protests are expected if the government acts too slowly on climate change.

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is expected to be in the running for John McCain’s VP pick and, as a big talker of smaller government, Pawlenty also believes we should have listened to former President Jimmy Carter on his energy policy. Pawlenty said that we shouldn’t spend time on voices that say climate change isn’t real.

Last month I posted an article on the prophesied melting of the entire Arctic region over the course of this summer. Not only has this not happened, surprise, surprise, but there is actually more ice in the Arctic waters than is typical of this year. Anthony Watts grabbed a satellite image of the Arctic and found plenty of ice still abounds in the northern polar region. How many failed predictions do we give these people before we start calling them on their fraud?

Conspiracy, Global Warming Hoax Lead Story »
(Hat tip to Paul). Earlier today I covered a Telegraph article describing some exciting new technology that allows for carbon dioxide to be extracted from the atmosphere. It’s a potential win-win for those of us who want to continue to drive our gasoline-powered automobiles as well as for the environmentalists that see carbon dioxide as the main culprit in the fight against global warming.
As with every solution posed by a non-environmentalist, however, this one too has been dismissed by the climate change crowd. You think it would be easy. Carbon …

Rachel Carson, whose book Silent Spring helped ban DDT, penned one before Silent Spring called The Sea Around Us, that suggests ocean currents are responsible for climate change and makes no mention of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions as a cause.

Al Gore is back in the news - apparently still upset with President Bush’s decision to lift the ban on offshore drilling. This time, instead of referring to global warming skeptics as moon landing hoaxers or flat Earthers, he’s now comparing the option of drilling offshore to the invasion of Iraq. Gore has picked an excellent subject (the unpopular Iraq War) and politicized it to further his global warming agenda - something the Democrats accuse the Republicans of at every opportunity. I guess it’s okay for Gore.

Excellent piece here on the bullying that takes place when the subject of global warming is at stake. NASA scientist James Hansen is at the forefront of this controversy, calling for a high-crimes trial for those who deny global warming for endangering the lives of others. Anyone who questions the science behind global warming are labeled deniers. I thought skepticism in science was good. It allows for new ideas and a better understanding of the subject. Except when it comes to climate change.
