Although Presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama represent vastly different segments of the American population, their positions on climate change are not that dissimilar.  Both men feel that President Bush’s stance on emissions cuts and dependence on fossil fuels is weak and they pledge to do more to fight global warming.

Disputing Global Warming »

This is a fascinating letter from the Viscount of Monckton of Brenchley to John McCain regarding global warming.  In it, sea level, global temperature, greenhouse gases and glacial melt are all discussed.  This is a very informative read for any of you in doubt about whether or not “man-made” global warming is a fact, or just another political fallacy generated by those who want your money and control over your lives.

Disputing Global Warming »

[9 Oct 2008 | No Comment | 55 views]

After his January 2005 claims that global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) again defended his claim during a debate Tuesday night when he declared the following:
I think I was right on that, and I do believe — first off, let’s keep in mind, though, what the issue is. It’s not whether or not we’re going into a global warming period. We were. We’re not now.
You know, God’s still up there. We’re now going through a cooling spell. And the whole …

With many conservatives excited by Senator John McCain’s pick of Governor Sarah Palin for his Vice Presidential running mate for the GOP platform because she appears to be a Washington outsider with true conservative roots, many are in horror of McCain’s stance on global warming.
Speaking with Reuters, John McCain remarked that he would tap ex-veep Al Gore on issues related to climate change, even though he disagrees with Gore on his nuclear energy stance.  McCain said that he has great respect for Gore.  Suddenly the slam-dunk vote for McCain because …

Former Vice President Al Gore, unconcerned with massive media reports that methane, a gas 20-25 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, is a factor in global warming, continues to eat meat even when scientists continue to blame livestock as a major source of emissions.  Watch the 10-minute Glenn Beck video below to get a perspective on how many of those who support the theory of global warming - McCain, Hillary, Gore - all seen in pictures, simply won’t modify one of the most basic elements of …

Reported yesterday, Harry Reid’s attempt to include a ban of oil shale in a $56 billion economic stimulus package failed today in the US Senate.  The House of Representatives is expecting to consider a similar bill as early as Friday but it, too, is expected to fail as President Bush has already threatened a veto.  Senators not voting on the bill at all include John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Barack Obama (not even voting present!!) and Joe Biden (D-CT), among others.  While the bill had enough votes for a …

Carbon Tax »

[25 Sep 2008 | No Comment | 12 views]

If you thought the defeat of the McCain-Warner-Lieberman energy plan meant no new carbon taxes, think again.  A regional initiative involving 10 states in the northeast United States is holding the first carbon allowance auction today beginning at 9:00 AM EDT.  In addition, some of the states involved in this regional effort will begin enforcing a cap-and-trade program on their electric power plants beginning next month.  What does this mean for consumers?  At a time of already high energy prices, Americans living in these states will be forced to pay …

Senators Barack Obama and John McCain both support a cap-and-trade system here in the U.S. and say they will implement such a market-based system when elected.  The Messiah, ummm, The One wants to lower emissions 90% below 1990 levels by 2050 and John McCain wishes to lower emissions to 60% of 1990 levels by the same year.  Neither one get this, though:  global warming is not of anthropogenic origins.  Cooler global temperatures combined with increasing carbon emissions does not compute.

John McCain recycled some 12,000 miniature American flags left over from Barack Obama’s nomination speech last week and gave them to audience members at the Republican National Convention.  The flags were discovered in trash bags in and near garbage bins at Denver’s Invesco Field.  Democrats say that the flags weren’t being thrown away and were snatched by McCain for political gain.  I’d say trash bags full of flags in and near garbage bins is pretty convincing evidence that the Democrats were going to throw them out.  With Obama’s supposed concern …

In a move to target women and Reagan conservatives, John McCain picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his VP running mate.  Palin, a first-term governor, is a pro-drilling candidate.  Let’s hope this influences McCain’s energy policy and pushes him away from the global warming advocacy he’s displayed in recent years.
