Hurricanes »
I was waiting on this one. Right Wing News is reporting on an article out recently that blamed big oil’s lack of “urgent search for solutions to global warming” on Hurricane Ike. Yup. Mother Nature bats last, according to the article, and big oil has set up phony debates on whether or not global warming exists and if its caused by humans. Right Wing News does fire back with the obvious, though: what about the large hurricane that slammed into Galveston in 1900? Where were all the SUVs then? Look, …

A Mile HIgh Music Festival recently held in Colorado was billed as being green, but was anything but green. Drinks were sold in recyclable plastic cups, but those who attended the event simply threw them to the ground without recycling them. Those working the recycling centers at the event were reduced to just picking up garbage. Attendees were asked to donate $7.50 each to offset their carbon footprint, with the proceeds going to a windmill that is not currently operational.

South Carolina regulators have allowed the construction of a nuclear power plant to continue despite the best efforts of an environmentalist group to stop it, according to this Charlotte Observer article. Having no environmental reasons for the disruption, Friends of the Earth and NCWarn filed petitions last month to halt construction because the final design for the site hadn’t been completed. This just proves that the environmentalists will do anything to stop a nuclear facility for any reason, environmental or not.

Government Intervention »
Liberal governors Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Bill Richardson of New Mexico in addition to Republican-in-name-only Arnold Schwarzenegger are working together to form a group called the Western Climate Initiatives to lower emissions boost renewable energy production. I’m all for this, of course, as long as not one cent of tax dollars is used to actually lower these emissions and boost the renewable energy production. Anything else is a scam.

Carbon Tax »
Just two days after I posted an article on the prospect of South Africa enacting a carbon tax, businesses in the country are already fighting back. Companies in the country say that they’re already experiencing difficulty in the market due to increasing energy costs and, if those expenditures didn’t already force them to become more efficient, they doubt a carbon tax would do anything to further along the cause. In addition, businesses are afraid the government won’t spend the additional carbon tax revenue in the most appropriate manner.

(H/T: Paul). New technology to scrub carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, all in an effort to save the world, is being opposed by - surprise, surprise - environmentalists. Although the technology to pull carbon from the air to reduce the overall carbon dioxide greenhouse gas footprint in the atmosphere - the primary gas that is responsible for global warming according to activists - is now available, environmentalists oppose the plan to implement it, citing it will “undermine attempts to promote greener lifestyles and industries.” If anything proves that the global …
Al Gore »
While I certainly don’t agree with just about anything coming from PETA, I found this article interesting. Gore apparently admitted during a blogging conference that he has had some effect on the environment by continuing to eat meat which, according to this PETA article, is more harmful than all cars, trucks, SUVs and planes combined. Gore needs to walk before he can run, says the article, but I say it’s just another do-as-I-say-and-not-as-I-do attitude that demonstrates how elite Gore thinks he is when compared to the rest of us. Shouldn’t …

Now that global warming can cause anything from blizzards to desert heat, the environmentalists have taken it upon themselves to declare the midwest floods on global warming, but they fail miserably. I remember the flood of 1993 when the Mississippi River overflowed its banks. 1993 had a period of cooling because of the eruption of Mount Pinatubo, which brought a strong jet stream that produced storms. Again, as the planet experiences another period of cooling, more storms have penetrated the nation’s heartland and flooding is the result. Whenever there’s an …

From “why is Mars warming too” to “are you sure humans are the cause of global warming”, they’re all here. But the debate is over, you see, so don’t expect Gore to answer any of these questions anytime soon.

The recently defeated Lieberman-Warner global warming bill in the U.S. Senate was a clear indication that the environmentalists are pushing to take over the government and institute a form of socialism based on high taxes and government regulations over all aspects of our lives having to do anything with energy.
