Al Gore, Global Warming Hoax Lead Story »
Al Gore had an editorial piece printed in the New York times today. It’s full of typical environmentalist talking points but only half of the truth is provided. Follow along as I share my comments (in bold) under each of Gore’s paragraphs (in italics) so help break down the truth from the hyperbole. While I’ll only excerpt parts of the opinion piece, the entire op-ed can be read by following the link at the bottom of this post.
[W]e…must make…an emergency rescue of human civilization from the imminent and rapidly growing …

And here I thought the global warming movement couldn’t get any more creepy. The Greenpeace foundation has resurrected footage of the late John Kennedy and placed it into an online video (click link below to view video at Anthony Watts’ site) as a promotion on fighting climate change. This latest movement from Greenpeace, called Energy [R]evolution, is one that wishes to make standards even tighter than those in the Kyoto Protocol. Among those standards, Greenpeace wants to eliminate all coal-fired power plants and use unproven and expensive …
Carbon Tax »
If you thought the defeat of the McCain-Warner-Lieberman energy plan meant no new carbon taxes, think again. A regional initiative involving 10 states in the northeast United States is holding the first carbon allowance auction today beginning at 9:00 AM EDT. In addition, some of the states involved in this regional effort will begin enforcing a cap-and-trade program on their electric power plants beginning next month. What does this mean for consumers? At a time of already high energy prices, Americans living in these states will be forced to pay …

Gore spoke at Clinton’s Global Initiative recently and, among other things, said clean coal was dead and that the current power grid loses $120 billion annually and “needs to be replaced anyway.” Also, Gore continued his rant that global warming is a crisis and that it is time for our youth to begin “civil disobedience” in shutting down coal power plants. Can the youth also count on Mr. Gore covering their legal fees once they’re arrested and tried in court?

(Via Politico). Obama’s Vice Presidential pick Joe Biden was asked by a supporter of solar and wind energy at a recent stop in Ohio if he supported both solar and wind. Biden said yes, and went on to say that he was the first to introduce global warming legislation and the first to support solar power. He also said there will be no coal plants built in the United States (how are you going to power the country, Joe???) and, if they’re going to be built, they should be built …

(Via American Conservative Daily). In a bid for the governorship, Republican Roy Brown promises more energy alternatives if elected. Brown wants to auction off state-owned coal tracts, build new coal-fired power plants and make it easier for oil and gas exploration. Brown said he would also eliminate the state’s business equipment tax to encourage oil and natural gas drilling.

Hi everyone and welcome to the week-that-was in global warming hoax news! I hope everyone took a moment to visit or remember their father on this Father’s Day in the U.S.
Sunday, June 8th:
When you think of socialism, do images of China and the former Soviet Union come to mind? Believe it or not, it’s slowing coming to the United States as environmentalists push for more control in government. The recently defeated Lieberman-Warner bill debated in the U.S. Senate is one example where environmentalists are pushing their agenda for control through …

Excellent Forbes Magazine opinion piece on why the McCain-Lieberman- Warner bill won’t work. As power plants shift from coal to natural gas, they become direct competitors of supply with individuals and businesses. To further complicate the problem, domestic natural gas production has remained flat while demand has increased. If the environmentalists hadn’t scared this country away from nuclear power, we’d be well on our way to cheap, and clean, energy.

The Bay Area has voted to implement a pollution fee of 4.4 cents per ton and, while this may not seem much, oil refineries and power plants are expected to pay upwards of $50,000 per year.

Good morning, folks, and welcome to the Global Warming Week-in-Review.
Sunday, May 11th:
10ksnookers.blogspot.com provided some interesting commentary on carbon credits and the cap-and-trade system, saying that it’s just a government-sanctioned ration on goods and services? How? Both systems limit the total amount of greenhouse gas that can be emitted into the atmosphere, which results in a limit of how much of a good or service can be produced without going over that limit. Remember the gas lines of the 1970’s? If this keeps up, expect to see lines for more than …
