Environmentalists in Illinois have pushed a plan for a new refinery back to the drawing board.  It seems the refinery will be performing “flaring”, a process by which excess waste in the plant is burned off and carbon dioxide is released.  While the state of Illinois doesn’t have a particular emissions standard for flaring, environmentalists are pushing the state to adopt one similar to California.  So let me get this straight:  the refinery will do nothing illegal or outside of regulations and yet the environmentalists are insisting the plans be redrawn?  When did these ecolibs start making the rules?
