Ran across this blog earlier today run by someone that supports the carbon tax coming to British Columbia on July 1st. He says the tax is only 2.4 c/liter and doesn’t understand the big deal as it works out to about $46 per year. If the carbon tax is so inexpensive, what’s the point, I ask. The carbon tax is designed to curb behavior, and such a small increase will do little or nothing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of any significance. What the carbon tax really does is take your money and redistribute it to the poor, as described in the article as credits for poor adults and children. People who already take public transportation may make money off this tax-and-grab scheme.
