Buying Air: The Carbon Credit Scam

When you eat off a plate, do you buy new plates to exchange your food-stained ones?  Do you buy new clothes every time you soil your laundry?  Of course not.  So why buy carbon credits for clean air when you put carbon dioxide into your existing air?  This opinion piece points out the basic element of the carbon credit scam:  you’re buying air.  You’re buying air from someone that hasn’t bothered to put carbon dioxide in it so that you can continue your not-so-environmentally friendly ways.
