How Will You Choose?

Most of you that are skeptical of global warming see the explicit lifestyle choices being forced in your personal lives from new compact fluorescent light bulbs that contain mercury (and cost much more) to expensive gasoline that can be traced back to lack of action by environmentalists and the Democrats who love them. But did you realize there’s a more sinister plan in the works? It’s already being discussed in Britain and could make its way to the United States quickly if the global warming activists have their way. It’s called carbon rationing.
The carbon rationing scheme is quite simply, really. You and your family are given a finite amount of allotted carbon that you can expel into the environment. Those credits can be used for driving, running your air conditioner or flying across the country as a start. As the global warming noose tightens, however, this carbon rationing system could be applied to your purchases. That new flat screen HDTV you’ve been wanting put 200 pounds of carbon into the atmosphere during the development and assembly process. Swipe your card. That steak you’ve been dreaming about all week? Cows produce methane, which is 24 times more effective at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. Swipe your card 24 times. Those fresh vegetables at the supermarket? Those aren’t grown locally, so swipe your carbon card. While no one is talking about exercising carbon credits to buy produce at this point, it’s the next logical step in ridding the planet of those nasty anthropogenic greenhouse gases.
So how will you choose? Obviously you need to eat, and you probably have to drive to the supermarket, so those will be the first selections in your carbon dioxide diet. What about the kids? Do they want to go to the park and run off some of that energy? Get ready to use your carbon card to drive to the local playground. What if you just want to go to church on Sunday? I doubt the Reverend Al Gore will give a reprieve on Sunday, even to followers of his vast religious, and money-making, empire. Air conditioning in the summer? Heat in the winter? Gasoline for your car so you can commute to work? When the environmentalists and their hatred of human advancement finally get their policies endorsed by the governments of the world, how will you choose what to spend your carbon credits on, and why?
