Well, not really…
It seems that a polar bear did recently die after having swam 200 miles.  The polar bear didn’t drown, though.  He made it to land only to be shot to death in Iceland as they were fearful that it would be a threat to humans.

In more bad news for global warming activists everywhere, the polar bear population has increased 40% since 1974 and are in no threat of extinction as many on the environmental left would have you believe, according to the New York Post. Hurricanes are already off the list of global warming images. Can polar bears now be removed as well?
