While we learned how to have a green Halloween last month, it’s not shocking that the greens are redefining the meaning of Thanksgiving by asking us to give thanks - to sustainability. From beeswax candles and organic turkeys to recycled paper products and buying carbon credits to offset your airline’s emissions, all the ideas that will cost you a fortune this Thanksgiving are all here, except one. The article suggests you lower your thermostat by two degrees and use the fireplace to save money. I’m sure that …

The Hawaii Reporter has some bona fide arguments against instituting climate action plans in the United States. The biggest complaint here is that, over the next several decades, developing countries will surpass the United States in carbon emissions, rendering our plans ineffective against countries like China and India. Unless these countries are willing to take the same approach to carbon reduction, the total carbon output around the world is just going to climb, no matter how many light bulbs you change.

Back when the news broke about rising food prices due, in part, to ethanol production to save the planet from global warming, I mentioned that the poor was the hardest hit.  Today, the MidKnight Review blog explores some other issues where the poor may be the hardest hit in the struggle to curtail global warming.  With many around the globe struggling just to feed themselves and their families each day, how can they react to the price of goods that are eco-friendly?  Green homes cost more than traditional homes.  Green …

I think I’ve now heard it all. Helmet hair from cycling may contribute to global warming. How, you ask? Well evidently people are concerned about bicycle helmets messing up their hair so, instead of cycling to work and not polluting the world with those nasty carbon dioxide molecules, they drive. Hence, the fear of messing up hair is killing the planet.  What a bunch of baloney.
Of course, we could all just buy a “hairmet”. Confused? Watch the Scrubs clip below:

Although I am a Mac convert from early 2006 with my first Intel-based iMac and several additions to the Mac family over the years, I’ve always been dismayed at Al Gore’s presence on the board of directors at Apple.  Nonetheless, I love my Mac, even if Apple is buying the green movement.  There’s even a new update to System Preferences.  The old energy saver icon that was depicted by an incandescent bulb has been replaced by a CFL bulb.  Just be careful if you drag it to the trash on …

Read over the home descriptions at this article and see if you can decide who owns which house.  This was part of an email that circulated the Internet some time back but has since been confirmed by Snopes.  You’ll be amazed, or maybe not, at the extent that one of the houses uses renewable and natural sources for electricity savings.

European Union ministers meeting in Luxembourg have given final approval to the ban of incandescent light bulbs.  Their replacements, CFLs, are supposed to last longer and use less energy than their now-banned counterparts and use less electricity.  However, opponents say that CFLs take a while to warm up, they flicker, and there are environmental hazards associated with them as they contain mercury.

Watch where you step and keep tugging at your pants fellow skeptics. If the alarmists have their way, your leather belt and shoes will be a thing of the past. Cows are sources of methane, a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon dioxide. And for you beer enthusiasts out there, a six pack will run you seven pounds of carbon. Will that be cash or charge?

Global warming has been blamed on hampering efforts to fight poverty, according to U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro.  The food and oil crises are causing significant hurdles to achieving the 10-year Brussels Programme of Action.  While the U.N. is quick to blame food shortages on rising oil prices, let’s not forget that the great ethanol bust caused rice, corn and wheat prices to skyrocket earlier this year.  So, yes, the U.N. is correct:  climate change has hurt the fight against poverty.  But not in the way they describe.

The editor over at the Chilling Effect website posted a great article yesterday which expounded on a write-up in the LA Times.  There is a growing disconnect between what the American people want and what Democrats think they want.
Remember Barack Obama’s answer to the growing energy crisis?  Properly inflate your tires to save gasoline, he remarked.  What was one of the dominant chants heard at the Republican National Convention?  “Drill, baby, drill!”  The American people are looking for solutions to the energy crisis, not simple-minded tactics that may save a …
