The Tricks of the Trade

Being a blogger skeptical of global warming, I bring a half-dozen or so news articles, opinion pieces and videos to the site every weekday. To get this information, I scan a couple of hundred RSS posts, emails and websites each day to find the latest happenings in climate change. Many of these news sources are global warming activist blogs because they sometimes contain little gems that portray the sheer idiocy or hypocrisy of the environmental left. Since the inception of this blog, I’ve picked up on a few of the tricks used by alarmists to get their point across and make it seem that global warming is happening when, in reality, we skeptics are all-too-familiar with how the planet is truly shaping up.

Global temperature is a big debate point in global warming. Skeptics look at the raw data and the graph plots and see that temperature anomalies are falling back to zero quickly, especially over the last two-to-three years. Cold temperature records are being recorded across the globe, Arctic sea ice is regaining ground much faster than in the past and Antarctica, well, hasn’t warmed in just about forever. But while skeptics like us look at the whole picture, deniers want to cut off temperature data at the year 2000. I can’t count how many times an activist has pointed me to a temperature graph that always seems to stop at the year 2000, which is a point in time right before the big plunge in global temperatures. Some skeptics don’t notice and are at a loss for words. But many more are left wondering why the last eight years haven’t been included. If you check out the GISS or NASA data, you’ll see that global temperatures haven’t exactly cooperated with the global warming movement’s agenda and, hence, the data is conveniently left off the chart. Deniers will tell you something about a decadal mean temperature average. So in two more years, will the deniers begin to display the 2000-2010 timeframe and give us a clear picture of how planetary temperatures really, well, just tanked?

Another little trick, most famously displayed by Al Gore, is the use of Mann’s hockey stick graph. Ever notice that the Medieval Warm Period is missing? Science tells us that it was warmer in the Medieval period than it is today, but it’s conveniently eliminated from most graphs. But why? If global warming is truly backed by science that’s in consensus, explain to us how global temperatures were warmer hundreds of years ago without man-made greenhouse gas emissions? They can’t. And instead of trying, they eliminate this very important factor from the big picture.

There are many global warming activist blogs working to convince you that the climate crisis is real and we’re all doomed. If a skeptic dares question the validity of the science behind climate change, they’re instantly - and sometimes viciously - challenged. Why the debate? Is there not a consensus? Is the debate not over? Or do these blogs feel the need to convince even more people of the impending challenges to an ever-warming world? The trick’s on them. Not being confident enough in the science has led many to defend the hoax, even with and more and more of the population becoming skeptical of the true intentions behind global warming. While skeptics have every right to challenge the climate change myth because we feel there is no consensus, global warming activists should just close up shop. After all, the debate is over. Right?

A social and fiscal conservative, I scour the news for information that disputes the current man-made global warming indoctrination that takes place around the world. I take a rather sarcastic approach to reporting on the nonsense being spewed by the talking heads in the media and the governments around the world.
