Drink Less Milk to Save the World

It wasn’t enough that we were asked to cut back on meat consumption to stop global warming.  Now consumers are being asked to cut back on milk intake to save the world from the devastating effects of climate change.  According to the article, meat and dairy products are responsible for eight percent of greenhouse gas emissions followed by fruit and vegetables.  Consumers are encourages to follow wartime protocol of shopping by foot, buying local produce and cooking in bulk.  Also, consumers are encouraged to reduce consumption of items with low nutritional value, such as alcohol, chocolate and and sweets.  People are not expected to do this voluntarily, however, so:

It concedes that people are unlikely to make such changes voluntarily, and so suggests caps on greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and carbon pricing to control what food is available at what price.
