The state of Massachusetts has passed a sweeping energy bill, which requires utilities to purchase more of their electricity from renewable sources. While that may not seem like a bad thing, read to the end of the article to find this sentence:
“It’s cheaper to save a kilowatt hour than to burn coal and build a wind farm,” Day said. “It makes economic sense to get people to reduce consumption instead of buying power at peak time from dirty sources.”
Now we get to the heart of this energy bill: a lifestyle change to conserve energy rather than build the renewable sources required to provide power to its citizens.
